Night of the Guitar at Flamenco Festival London 2026 @Sadlers_Wells

Tonight’s performance in the Flamenco Festival 2026 features three outstanding flamenco guitarists Gerardo Núñez, Antonio Rey, and from the younger generation Álvaro Martinete, with flamenco dancer Olga Pericet, in a tribute performance to another outstanding guitarist, Sabicas (1912–1990), whose work expanded the international audience and the international love of flamenco in the twentieth century and beyond. The fundamental role of the guitar in flamenco is something Olga Pericet often celebrates in her work. especially acknowledged in Olga Pericet’s La Leona – (the lioness) – referring both to the famous guitar by Antonio de Torres, built for Julián Arcas in 1856 – and to the animal.
